Job Description

The NYC Financial Information Services Agency–Office of Payroll Administration (FISA-OPA) is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to work as a WebSphere Administrator, supporting production maintenance and phased implementation of the HR, Benefits, and Timekeeping functions of the city's HR/Payroll systems.

The position is responsible for installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting middleware infrastructure, particularly IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ, and Cognos. The engineer will support critical citywide applications, collaborate with technical teams, work independently, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and administer IBM WebSphere Application Server. • Support WebSphere Traditional (tWAS) and WebSphere Liberty on Linux/UNIX platforms. • Manage Liberty server configurations, including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options. • Use Git for source control and configuration management. • Use Ansible for middleware automation, configuration management, and application deployments. • Support CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and CloudBees. • Administer associated middleware products, including IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, and Cognos. • Perform middleware upgrades and patch installations. • Troubleshoot Java errors and resolve production issues. • Work with relational databases and SQL. • Perform…
